Help us celebrate our first year anniversary! We're just a little bit early, but we've got so many wonderful things to tell you about it just couldn't wait.
To begin with, we have LOTS of yarn, from Phildar, Cleckheaton, Lopi, Candide and more on sale at 35% off - some have just a few balls left, a nice way to make accessories or children's things at a great savings, and many have plenty to make a yummy, warm sweater for yourself - after all you've been working hard all summer - swimming, barbecuing and looking after the tourists - right, so it's time you sat down and got back to your knitting. We also have many patterns at a savings of 25% - from Phildar, Bernat, Patons, Reynolds, Peter Gregory, Skacel, Hayfield, and more. It is an opportunity to sit down and spend a bit of time picking out your favorites.
There are also notions on sale - Knitting needles from Bernat, Brittany, and our handmade birch needles too. So this is the time to pick up that beautiful Black Walnut Brittany you're missing and round out your set.
Our limited stock of tote bags are all on sale too at 15% off. All JHB buttons are 25% off, so make sure you have the buttons for that project you worked so hard on! Our Back issues are all $3.00 each - a terrific savings while supplies last!
We are also thrilled to bring you our newest selections - we've brought in more from the Brown Sheep Company, Cotton Fleece in 12 shades, with more due to arrive soon. It is a luxurious, 80% cotton / 20% wool blend that has all the drape and softness of pure cotton with just enough wool to give it bounce and elasticity
Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece is absolutely wonderful for just about any type of knitting from socks to baby or children's garments to grown up Ganseys - what ever you have in mind, this versatile yarn is sure to be a hit. We have also added more worsted weight Superwash colors, and more of the single ply Lamb's Pride in bulky weight too.
Another new arrival is the inclusion of Brown Sheep's patterns, which have just arrived and are wonderful! - designed by many of the country's favorites like Sidna Farley, Lily Chin and Deborah Newton just to name a few. They are timeless, classic and best of all, easy to understand!
We have also included patterns from Knitting Traditions by Beth Brown-Reinsel - easily some of the most detailed and complete patterns we have ever seen. Beth has background in the lab, and this training carries over into her book Knitting Ganseys, and now into her patterns. Classic designs such as Jerod's Gansey, Chelsea's Heart Gansey, or Grace's Cardigan will challenge you and teach you techniques like the channel island cast on, underarm gussets, and split overlapped garter welts. The smaller items like the Gansey socks, or the Swedish Ullared socks will give you the perfect opportunity to try a new project, without getting caught up in something more time consuming.
We also expect to bring you Peace Fleece this Fall also. We will be having a trunk/slide show and talk by Peter Hagerty who together with his wife Marty Tracy owns and operates a wonderful company dedicated to the furthering of Russian-American relations through a co-operative that produces 30 wonderful shades of Soviet/American blend Yarn. Offered in Worsted weight, Sport and even a Rug wool, there is always food for thought here. We will bring in 10 or so colors to start with in the Worsted weight. It is put-up in 200 yard hanks and sells for about $6.50 a skein. This puts the adult sweater at under $65.00 and the smaller items well within the reach of your budget. As always we are happy to special order, and to layaway, just ask for details.
We will also have new patterns from Peace Fleece, as well as some truly unique hand painted Ukranian buttons, and strait knitting needles in sizes from 3 to 11. These would make a beautiful gift, and we would be happy to help you put together a kit for that favorite knitting friend.
There are also new ideas from Bear Brain Enterprises, a company that gives you the opportunity to create some of the most adorable knit and felted bears we have ever seen. They will have a knitted kitty soon, and also a knitted bunny. They will also be offering a line of clothes for these or any stuffed "buddies" we may have.
We have brought in patterns from another timeless designer - Tammy Thompson of Woolen Collectibles - these patterns truly rival Alice Starmore (though it may be heresy to say so). Tammy is an immensely talented designer from the wilds of Montana, and her patterns reflect that pioneer spirit. We have a fresh selection of sweaters, mittens and warm yummy socks all ready for you to achieve a totally unique and personalized creation. Pair some of the wonderful fiber savings with any one of these inspiring new patterns and the sky's the limit.
Remember that knitting time is always time well spent. We would be thrilled to help you pick out just the right project to let your own special talent shine
